Joana Knezevic- reflection

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

This semester was the best for me so far. The one reason is that of this class that blows my mind, imagination and the level of responsibility. Generosity, curiosity, sharing, humbleness and an open mind is something that I will definitely bring with me outside of CalArts. It is the first time that I felt to belong to our community and I can say big THANK YOU to all of you, but especially to Evelyn who creates this platform of freedom for us. I feel safe to share everything with you to try and to fail because this is a process that has so many different levels and I feel that I am growing a lot.
If you ask me what was the best part of the class I wouldn’t know what to tell you. It is because I enjoyed so much no matter what was the topic.… Finally, I became curious and motivated again. Each part of the class was super important to me and each part opened another door for exploration and discovery. Something that would like to go further and explore more are different strategies for performance and how they can be used in everyday life. The book “Beautiful Trouble: A toolbox for revolution” was something that helps me a lot to understand better art vs activism and how usefully to combine them together.

Looking forward to taking another class with Evelyn J next semester.
