I love text written by people who study plants. One of my favorite books is The Shaman's Apprentice by Mark Plotkin. (https://www.ted.com/talks/mark_plotkin_what_the_people_of_the_amazon_know_that_you_don_t)
I can talk about this book for a day,
I feel like these people know so much more because they have this connection to the land that we don't have. I wish I could spend a lifetime helping these peoples because this knowledge is something that is disappearing but also the most important thing we need to know right now, but the medical industry is a business before anything else. Native people are a culture that is so oppressed and pushed to the side but the one culture we need to preserve the most. What is Thanksgiving without the farmers and seeds who grew them? We don't help provide resources to our Indian reserves but Americans love to tell people what percentage of Native American is in our blood. We need to write, record and get all of this knowledge down before this culture is completely wiped out.
