I thought that this was a really beautiful excerpt. If there is one thing I can empathize with immediately and on a very pure intuitive level, its environmental related issues. I completely agree with everything that this text is speaking towards, which is very simply put; a deep respect for the planet we share. All of the various pledges from the Thanksgiving Address, in contrast to the Pledge of Allegiance make the Pledge of Allegiance seem all the more dirty and greedy. It is permeated with the sense that this is a Pledge made to vow your allegiance to an entity constructed by man that was stolen from it's original inhabitants. I especially liked the metaphors used to compare the earth to a very giving mother that gives us a lunch each day. Or, a good leader as was spoke about in regards to the berries.
