I read the article about "Making New Folks Welcome" and it made me think of art currently, and how my fellow students tend to make art that I feel is not something that people who are not the artist will understand or feel welcome to join. I have noticed that people tend to make art that is very different and forward thinking, but I feel that we forget that people who are not your classmates will not understand or I have noticed that. I have noticed that my friends who are not artist tend to treat me that I am thinking on a different brainwave, and I want to invite them into this world but they are so scared of being the only person in the room that doesn't understand what is happening. The article talks about how we need to discuss what involvement looks like and I think it will be interesting to talk to people who arent artist and see what their views of current art are like. Then we can slowly create a space where everyone is welcome or feel like they can say something.
