US-CUBA Relations- by Diana Teixeira

QUESTIONS
1. If the path to friendship is honesty. Why hasn’t a president admitted to the atrocities committed by the U.S. against Latin America in their imperialist attempts?
2. What is the main stream discourse about  the Cuban embargo? How does it differ from the truth?
3. What are the common struggles of women in the “first world capitalist America” and “the third world Comunist Cuba”?
4. Even though the embargo was placed. US capitalism kept selling to Cuba. Why? This is not contradictory?….or not?
5. In regard of basic Social Services, (Health, Eduction etc) should we imitate Cuba?

IMPORTANT POINTS
1. Nationalism was a worldwide phenomenon in the 1890. In this times we see the US involvement in many Latin American governments, including Cuba.  US historic relationship towards the rest of America is based on interest not friendship.
2. When I visited La Habana, Pinar del Rio, and Viñales, I realized that the global level of education of  <30 young adults was extremely high. The awareness on global issues and political processes was present in every corner. For example they knew with exactitude all the news of the Peruvian election (I was there right before it) and the political views and conclusions where very accurate and informed.
3.I believed that one of the major concerns  between cuban people is to achieve (by themselves) the idea of Freedom  in many talks that I had that was a common topic.
4. I believe that Cuba and the US could use their african diaspora to creat cultural bridges.
5. Part of that diaspora would be  creating  work of arts that touches the African diaspora susceptibilities of both countries.
