Project Idea Seeds

Idea seeds

1. Yoga Session
·      I have recently become a devote yoga practitioner, it has helped with my physical pain and issues tremendously. It has also helped with my anxiety and depression. Studying yoga philosophy, in addition to asana practice, has broadened my perspective and ideas. I want to share this gift of yoga with people, knowing how much it has helped me.
·      I would lead a yoga session
·      I could help empower people so that they cant work for change for themselves
o   I don’t know what they need – they know what they need
o   The best way to change the world is one person at a time
§  The ability to touch people at an individual level and improve their lives, regardless of what is happening in their country or the world
·      Yoga as a way to deal with physical and emotional trauma
·      Help show how all people are human and connected
·      “putting an equal sign between ourselves and others”
·      Connect to the cosmic consciousness of the universe
·      Yoga helps you to see different possibilities
·      This would be a pocket of justice
·      Get funding to provide people with yoga mats + have handouts with info for them to continue their yoga practice
o   Handouts would have descriptions of some asanas and some yoga philosophy which is helpful
·      “Peace comes by sitting together in unity, whether in meditation or in protest, and by volunteering and standing with like-minded organizations to oppose those who would harm others”

2. Creative/Expressive Arts Therapy mural with chalk
·      Encourage people to help create a mural with chalk in a public space from an arts therapy perspective
o   Give people a prompt so that they can address their own issues within their community
§  I’m not sure yet exactly what the prompt or exercise would be
o   Maybe it could be a painted mural and not just chalk!
·      “Art therapy involves the creation of art in order to increase awareness of self and other. This in turn may promote personal development, increase coping skills, and enhance cognitive function.”

3. Something completely different!
·      Maybe about this idea of writing history and defining a narrative

·      My first two ideas don’t seem good enough to me :-/
