The original idea I had was to fabricate some sort of placards, or sort of
headstones with brief information about humanity. These would need to
be made from heavy duty industrial materials, or something else sturdy
enough to withstand whatever time on this planet may bring. Basically,
the most indestructible material that isn't outrageously expensive. For
this project I was thinking of using the help of Agustin to help me
build these.
I'm still playing around with many ideas. After speaking with Evelyn, I've been thinking that it can be useful to incorporate some iconic symbols of revolution into my projects. Perhaps using a Clenched fish for example, or a white horse instead of a plaque. Perhaps this project will take another form, and be a painting, or a series of photographs. Or perhaps it can exist as photographs of the object staged in various areas around Havana.
Another idea that I'm leaning heavily towards is to collaborate with Ani on a her project. Either I'd build something with her and totally disregard my original ideas, or I'd incorporate my ideas into her project somehow. Cuban tobacco is something I'm quite passionate about, so this makes immediate sense to me to explore this idea further.
Lastly, I had scheduled a meeting with Kathy Carbone a couple weeks back for this Thursday. I plan on discussing these things with her, and getting a more concrete idea of where to head with my project.
