Being able to see Guillermo Gómez-Peña was absolutely amazing. He has such a way with performance, with words, and he does so with such abandonment that one cannot help but laugh out loud. I laughed so much during his performance. But I think the most amazing thing is that he was making us all laugh about extremely controversial topics, very important ones, and ones that we, on any other day, in any other place, would not be laughing about! His glasses, which he put on, informed amazing different characters. The piece about his love relationship with his laptop was intriguing and comical, and I found his closing letter to Trump to hit very hard and in the right places. I think what he really does excellently is know how to control his comedy. He knows when and how to make people laugh, and also when to bring his tone down to a more serious note. I thin the gist of one of the most important things he said was "our governments seek to take away our creativity, and perhaps that is even more frightening then our speech." That was very impactful for me, because I can see it all around me. I also respected that he said certain things in Spanish and refused to translate them into English. He has such wisdom, clarity of thought, and I came away from seeing him with a deep respect for his work.
