Gbennett Maquilapolis response

The ways that the United States takes advantage of countries for the sake of turning larger profits really struck me. By outsourcing industrial production to countries without strict enforcement of labor and environmental laws, they are able to get away with work conditions and waste dumping that would be considered criminal within the states. This really made me think about where the components in the electronics that I purchase come from and what the companies producing them are doing to offer them at such low prices. These filmmakers did a great job engaging these women and allowing them to tell their story, without seeming like they were taking advantage of the story to credit themselves as filmmakers. They seemed to be using the tactic of doing the presses work for them, by exposing parts of industrialization and globalization that are not exposed willingly. Many argue the benefits of globalization bringing jobs to areas where it is hard to find work. I think that this serves as a good example of how it can cause more harm than good to incentivise large companies exporting factories. Especially to places where the byproducts of their capital greed are allowed to harm the people that make their success possible.
