"Beginning with where our feet first touch the Earth we send greetings and thanks to all members of the natural earth."
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this article. Especially as we are now entering the holiday seasons. The idea of gratitude is something that i think is forgotten in the commercialized holiday season. The address of gratitude is something that is so much more prominent and important than the Pledge of Allegiance. I believe that this reading is more important than ever now in light of the natural disasters that the Earth has been experiencing. I wish to show more gratitude towards the Earth I live in and to be mindful to all it provides, such as 'all the food plants we harvest from the garden' as well as the plants that provide medicine (as is written in the Thanksgiving address).
'Now our minds are one'
There is a big emphasis on the idea of togetherness. In this world now I think it is easily forgotten that we all inhabit this planet together. 'The thanksgiving address is a reminder we cannot hear too often, that we as human beings are not in charge of the world but are subject to the same forces as all the rest of life.' For me it serves as a huge reminder for the basis of gratitude, and gratitude on a large Earthly scale. My question is how do we as a race find ways of expressing gratitude, find ways of thanking the natural world we live in?
