Although this video is short it did open my eyes more about how long these two sides didn't talk to each other. It was upsetting to see how Cuba has always been this exotic travel destination to the rich and powerful because of the almost standstill relationship with the USA.
It got me thinking about how in our project writing letters might be emotional for some people.
Why would people write to a stranger? Why would they write to a stranger from the USA who has only seen their home as an exotic travel spot or an enemy? Would people in the USA be sensitive to citizens in Cuba considering we don't know their pain?
Or should we switch instead of strangers writing to each other but 2nd generations Cuban Americans writing to Cubans?
I think we have to think deeper about who is writing to who and are they just blindly free writing or should we create a prompt?
