Arts Activism
- Something that really resonated with me, was the depiction of living in Tijuana, Baja California and with the struggle and miss treatment of the workers.
- I felt the way in which the narrative was told the film was able to go very personal and into the workers lives, showing the truth of these companies.
- The factories opened up for companies
- Go for tax breaks and cheap labor
- The factories would harass and pressure them
- Use toxic chemicals
- Nose bleeds and hives would occur
- Work 6 days a week
- Tijuana never was this bad
- Showing progress over time
- Horrible water
- Cause rashes
- Symbolism:
- Each worker shows objects in different color rooms
- Workers as objects
- Hanging uniform
- Factories aren't making risks clear
- Sores and spots on their body
- Shows responsibilities outside the factory
- Kids and providing
- 11$ per day
- Horrible Businesses, bad for community
- Had a strike and protest
- Symbolism:
- Overlapping shots
- Sign Language
- Documenting their achievements
- It is interesting the filmmakers were in non of the footage, it was completely about the workers of the factory.
- The emotions depicted in the film inspire me to be possibly make something that could make a difference
- Large or small
