Reflection on the video "Black in Latin America"
"I AM A MAN OF COLOR BECAUSE OF THAT I AM NOT LESS THAN ANYONE ELSE."
This quote is the core of the documentary "Black in Latin America".
-Black and white same rights? - Really ?
-Is their music and dance anesthesia in order to forget their unified pain, to reshape their trauma and to tell their truth?
-Cuba for Cubans? what does that mean today to call yourself a Cuban? How is that different today?
-Meal as a metaphor of Cuban culture. (Unique quality)
I am proposing those questions and I still don't have the answers. Just thoughts that are not clear. As somebody who came from the different country and backgrounds, I am trying to understand the history of the USA and it is extremely challenged for me, there are so many sides. As much as I dig through the American history I found very unclear facts that push me to think a lot and to ask questions.
In this documentary, it is obvious that racism is in every part of the society in Cuba and the government does not want to do anything. However, the streets belong to the people who are brave enough to celebrate who they are. The pain is on their faces but the song is on their mouths.
