'Radical Hope Is Our Best Weapon

QUESTIONS
-'Fuku' -'The curse and doom of the new world' -What exactly is this new world and how do we adapt to survive within it?

-Diaz talks of the experience with the medium as something that created a spiritual bind between himself and others. How do we create energy that binds ourselves to other people in order to create a deeper understanding of an other?

-'The Idiom of Silence' -The greatest point of activism is to allow our voices to be heard and yet Diaz describes being 'fluent' in the 'Idiom of Silence' due to his background and upbringing. How do we radically accept our existing conditions and move on to allow our voices to be heard?

OBSERVATIONS
-I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and hearing about Diaz's world views and thoughts. His consideration that you can 'form no intimacy without vulnerability' struck me also as an artist as one can form no true art without vulnerability and art can be the most intimate exposure of ones self.

-Diaz is an incredibly spiritual artist, he talks frequently about the self and connecting to others as well as his background and personal history. It is this level of self awareness that makes him such a talented artist.

-'Our political, economic systems have destabilized the planet. And the planet is going to continue to unravel.' Diaz states. He seems to acknowledge that we have broken our world beyond repair and yet we carry on for the sake of 'love' and 'hope'. Radical Hope is his answer.

RADICAL HOPE
The definition of 'hope' is that of 'a desire for a certain outcome' or 'a feeling of trust'. Thus Diaz expresses that we must look for radical 'desire' or 'trust' to guide us through. I still remain in complete shock with how the world has seemingly deteriorated and yet I am constantly told that the way forward is courage and voice.

Amelia Earhart said 'courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace'. In our current world state we must have courage in able to have hope. We must have courage in order to speak out. As artists we have courage everyday in order to express this vulnerability that Diaz speaks of. We must have courage to love. And now we must have courage to fight.
