Hi everyone! My name is Jiaying Wang, currently a BFA4 Scenic designer. I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. I started to do ink wash painting since a young age. I have never stopped my adventure of trying new and different medias of art, from a surface to an object and from a space to an experience. I have my interests in studying human behavior and psychological environment. I love reading stories and passionate about creating unique design for each story and character. In the past two years at CalArts, I have designed for both theater and film. In spring, I worked on a staged documentary film about African American single mother and an immersive theater piece which mixes of projections, toy theater, live performance and virtual reality. I am excited to spend my last semester with your guys to learn more about Arts and Activism. Recently, I fall in love with cooking and hiking. EAT & LIVE WITH NATURE!
